A: Why Hangover hero? Is there a story for the name you´ve chosen?
R: This is actually a funny story. We went to Sascha Paeth to record 3 songs as a promo (2 of which you can hear on our website). We were gonna start recording on Friday and arrived in the hotel on Thursday. That Thursday night we had a very good time with the four of us, and many bottles of wine
were emptied ;-) The next day when we started recording we all kind of had a hangover, and Sascha called us the Hangover Heroes. He continued calling us
that the days after that, and the name started to sound very cool! In the end we decided that Hangover Hero (singular) would be a very cool name for
the band.
A: How this project was born?
R: Well, first of all, I have always LOVED the type of music we play, and the wish to be in a band that plays this music had been in my head for a
couple of years. I talked a lot about this to Ad, because Ad and I had become good friends. We talked about forming the band for a long time, but
we weren't able to do it, because we were too busy with our other bands. When we both had left our bands, we could finally start Hangover Hero :-) We also
both knew that Andre and Mats were the perfect guys to complete the band. Pure, no-nonsense kind of musicians, who just like to rock, and play music
from their hearts. After we had played together for the first time, we knew that the chemistry was great, and that this was the formation we wanted!
A: We know that all the members of the band came from a metal background, a bit different from the one you´re actually doing. Did you get tired of it and needed something different or there´s any other reason which carried you to this journey?
R: We all have a very wide musical taste. We like a lot of different kinds of music, and the kind of music we have played for the last couple of years is just one of them. You could say that we grew tired of the symphonical kind of music we were playing. We really wanted to go back to the basics, 2 guitars, a bass and drums, no extra instruments. It's a great challenge to create a cool song when you only have these basic instruments. We love it! :-)
A: What music style will you classify the music you´re doing?
R: A lot of people told me it was like Stadium Rock :-) But I just think it's rock music, nothing else :-)
A: What things inspired you to create the album? Is there a particular topic?
R: Themes I like a lot include optimism, self-consciousness, and self-assurance. I meet so many people who think little about themselves, and
most of them have great talents, or great personalities! In my songs I would like to encourage those people to stand up, show themselves and to think a
little more about themselves. Everybody is worth looking at and listening to!
A: How´s working with Sasha Paett (again for some of you)? What do you think he added to de band´s identity?
R: It was very great to work with Sascha! He really took our songs to a higher level! This guy is a producer to my taste. Doesn't like to polish everything to perfection, and is not scared to even keep small playing mistakes on the album. I love that! Also, Sascha is a very funny and nice guy, who helps us a lot. He really believes in Hangover Hero and really wants to be involved with the band. Very cool!
A: I propose you an ethic test, just for fun. Hope you guys like it...
Lets imagine ( hope never happens) that the album doesn´t have too much success and you´re all in a bad mood, frustrated, and the tour is so small that you´re travelling in a small car with the instruments in the back really uncomfortable, but everything can change with a phone call: ring!!!
Is Enrique Iglesias!! The famous Spanish singer, who´s tired of the pop music, he already sang salsa, boleros, etc. and wants to try something new.
He proposes to you to make a love song duet, a metal version of course and…… you have to do a salsa version of it live!
With an according outfit of course a salsa suit, and he will pay you 90000 Euros just for the song and live performance..
You guys have 3 options:
a) You said no, ´cause that´s falling deep down, you´re faithful to what to do, a reputation and for nothing in the world you´ll ever wear that! ...
b) You said no, but later you regret of the decision ´cause you really need the money; it´s too late ´cause motley crue said yes, and they´re making the video in Colombia al son del cha cha cha jaja…
c) You said yes ´cause you don´t care! You record the best salsa song ever won a Grammy Latino and with the money create the finest Hangover Hero album and made the best tour ever!!!

R: Es una historia muy graciosa. Fuimos con Sasha a grabar tres canciones como promoción (dos de las cuales pueden escuchar en el sitio web). Íbamos a comenzar a grabar un viernes, llegamos al hotel un jueves. Ese mismo día a la noche la pasamos muy bien y tomamos varias botellas de vino .
Al día siguiente comenzamos a grabar, todos teníamos algo de resaca; Saha nos llamaba “los héroes de la resaca”. El continuó llamándonos así días después, y el nombre empezó a sonar cool.
Finalmente decidimos que “HANGOVER HERO” sería un muy buen nombre para la banda.
A: ¿Cómo nació este proyecto?
R: Bueno, yo siempre amé el tipo de música que hacemos. El deseo de estar en una banda que tocara este tipo de música ha estado en mi cabeza desde hace muchos años. He hablado sobre esto con Ad, porque somos buenos amigos, pero nunca habíamos podido hacerlo porque ambos estábamos ocupados con nuestras otras bandas.
Cuando los dos dejamos nuestras bandas pudimos finalmente empezar con Hangover Hero. También sabíamos que Andre y Mats eran perfectos para completarla; músicos puros y sin sentido a los que les gusta el rock y tocan desde el corazón.
Después de haber tocado juntos por primera vez, sabíamos que la química entre nosotros era perfecta y era la formación que queríamos.
A: Sabemos que los miembros de la banda provienen de un pasado metalero, lo que es un tanto diferente a lo que están haciendo ahora, ¿Se habían cansado de lo que venían haciendo y necesitaban algo diferente o fue otra la razón que los llevó en este viaje?
R: Todos tenemos gustos musicales muy amplios. Nos gustan distintos tipos de estilos musicales, y la música que hemos estado tocando es sólo uno de ellos. Se podría decir que nos cansamos del estilo sinfónico que estábamos haciendo. Nosotros queríamos volver a lo básico, dos guitarras, un bajo y una batería, sin instrumentos extra. Es un gran desafío crear una buena canción cuando sólo cuentas con los instrumentos básicos. ¡Y nos encanta!
A: ¿En qué estilo musical clasificarías la música que están haciendo?
R: Mucha gente me dijo que sonaba como rock de estadio. Pero yo pienso que es sólo rock, nada más
A: ¿Qué cosas te inspiran a la hora de crear el álbum? ¿Algún tema en especial?
R: Temas, me gusta incluir el optimismo, la auto conciencia y la seguridad en uno mismo. Conozco mucha gente con baja autoestima y muchos de ellos tienen grandes talentos o una gran personalidad. En mis canciones quiero alentarlos a que se paren, se muestren y piensen mejor de ellos mismos. ¡Todo el mundo es digno de ser visto y escuchado!
A: ¿Cómo es trabajar con Sasha Paett? (de nuevo para alguno de Uds.)
¿Qué crees que le agregó a la identidad de la banda?
R: ¡Fue muy bueno trabajar con Sasha! El llevó nuestras canciones a un nivel más alto.
El es un productor de mi gusto. No le gusta pulir todo a la perfección y no se asusta al dejar pequeños errores en el álbum. ¡Amo eso! También es una persona muy buena y graciosa que nos ayuda muchísimo. El realmente cree en nosotros y se involucra con la banda. ¡Eso muy bueno!
A: Te propongo una pregunta ética, sólo por diversión, espero te guste:
Imaginemos, espero que no nunca pase, que el álbum no tenga mucho éxito y ustedes están de muy mal humor, frustrados, y el tour es tan corto que viajan en un pequeño auto con los instrumentos en el baúl, muy incómodos. Pero todo puede cambiar con la siguiente llamada.... riing!!!
¡Es Enrique Iglesias! El famoso cantante español, que cansado de del pop, el ya ha cantado salsa, boleros, etc., quiere hacer algo nuevo.
Te propone hacer un dueto, una canción de amor, y quiere una versión metal y otra salsa que tendrán que hacer en vivo con un autfit acorde al estilo, un traje de salsa.
